We do not learn from experience… we learn from reflecting on experience. ~ John Dewey

Educators – you did it! Fall 2018 has concluded for most, and Holiday season is upon us. Now is the time to enjoy our family and friends, and recharge from this Fall semester for the year ahead.

How did it go for you this Fall in your classroom, school, or district? My bet is you experienced everything from disappointments, to being on target, to unexpected moments of connection and breakthroughs with students, colleagues, and parents. Whatever the case may be, you are growing. Growth is incremental, it takes time. If we do not stop to reflect, our growth and that of our students may go unnoticed, which leaves a missed opportunity to find encouragement and motivation for ourselves.

Consider continuing your professional growth during this break by completing a learning unit in Project MOOPIL. At the end of the unit, you will complete Brown & Irby’s (2001) “Reflection Cycle.” This will give you a chance to create or locate an artifact from your teaching or leadership practice, and invigorate you by igniting your creativity, or providing yourself with positive affirmation.

Join us over the break. We, and educators from around the state, will be online with you to encourage, prompt, and support you!

Cheers to a merry and bright Holiday Season, 2018!
